AGE CARE PROJECT
While
we are documenting for WILD ANIMALS and BIRDS species of Kangra
Valley, we use to stay at high hills with local tribal families.
During our stay with these people we have very shocking encounter
with humans. We saw many old bed-ridden people without having any
Medicare and lack of basic need. Moreover we met some orphan child
they were staying with relatives or in to the community. These kids
were in very bad shape no education, no proper food, shelter etc
some of them were regularly beaten-up by relatives.
So
we took initiative to help these poor old people and orphan child.
We have trained one of our employee as Home-Nurse, that way we can
provide home based nursing care to these poor bed-redden people.
Under this project we have provided winter-aid, medicines, food
for old bed-ridden people and 3 children has been sent to school.
Himalayan Nature Society is highly thankful to STATE BANK
of INDIA, Dharamsala, LIONS CLUB, Dharamsala
for funding our Age Care Project and we are equally thankful to
TIBET CHARITY, Dharamsala for training our employee
as Home-nurse and Anna Marie Van Assche to provide
us financial support.
WATER CONSERVATION PROJECT
Under
water conservation project we are putting our efforts to conserve
“Traditional Water Sources of Himalayan Region”
The first development project in regards to the conservation of
local natural springs is located in the Kajlot Panchyat (Village
Council) under the hilly terrain area of Dharmasala in the Kangra
Valley.
This
project encompasses a variety of tribal groups including the Chola
and the Naddi villages, spreading to affect a population of over
2300 individuals. Due to the accumulating amounts of waste and fecal
dispersal in the region, a dire need for protection and regeneration
of the local sources has been acquired throughout the regions.
onsequentially, the traditional water sources are the source of
many current health problems in the regions. It is for this reason
that the 5 new springs have been constructed and are heavily used
by the local villagers.
This project is generously funded by DFID (Department
for International Development) under Embassy of
England, New Delhi.
FORESTATION PROJECT
Degrading
green forest cover of Dhouladhair Himalaya is major concern of our
Society. Volunteer of Himalayan Nature Society are regulearly being
involved in plantation drives with Native Species (Trees, Flowers,
Shrebus photo).
From last 6 years we have planted over 10,000.trees with the help
of Government Forest Department, Schools, Foreginors Volunteers
and local Tribal Residents.
This project is co-funded by Government Forest department and Individuals
donors.
